Ramon Ylanan, MD

SEC Team Physician experience.
Dr. Ramon Ylanan joins UAMS Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine with over 11 years of sports medicine and SEC Team Physician experience; as the Head Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks for over 7 years, and a Team Physician for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
His sports medicine experience includes caring for 6 NCAA College World Series teams, including the 2010 and 2011 NCAA CWS Champion Gamecocks, and multiple NCAA Track and Cross-Country Championship Razorback teams. In addition to his SEC experience, Dr. Ylanan has cared for the Columbia and Alabama Ballets, multiple High Schools in the Birmingham, AL, Columbia, SC and Fayetteville, AR areas, and has served as medical director for the HogEye Marathon.
Dr. Ylanan obtained his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Virginia and earned his Medical Degree from Ross University. After completing his Family Medicine residency at the University of Missouri, and serving as a Chief Resident, he completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama under the tutelage of Dr. James Andrews, Dr. Jeff Dugas, Dr. Lyle Cain and Dr. Tracy Ray.
As UAMS Faculty, he holds academic appointments as Assistant Professor in both the Family Medicine and Orthopaedic Departments, roles he similarly held as Faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He will continue as the Program Director of UAMS’ Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, a program he developed and boasts 2 SEC Team Physicians as alumni.
